May Update

I realized that I am very late with this update but at least I have remembered to do it and with all things considered I’ll take that as a win. My motivation has been nearly zero for the last few weeks, and with a combination of health issues playing up it has really slowed my progress this month.

MU123

I’ve been making steady progress with this over the last month or so, I am at the halfway point for this module, and I have to admit it’s not been easy to stick with. However, the skills I have learnt in the module will pay off in the end. I am just finishing up the third tutor marked assignment and should have that submitted before the 22nd of June. I have not been able to attend many of the tutorials for this module as they clash when I am working so I am beginning to wonder if that is why I have found this one harder going.

Elevate Mentorship

I have been busy working away with WordPress, I have challenged myself to rebuild an existing site using it. I have looked at various learning materials for it and have found it difficult to find current relevant content. I completed a freeCodeCamp intro to WordPress template design and though I knew enough to get cracking, well this was until I tried to build the site up and the wheels well and truly fell off. I have come to the conclusion that I need to learn more about how WordPress works and how the hierarchy manages things. Once I’ve cracked this then I should be able to carry back on. As much as I want to become a developer right now, spending a bit more time really understanding the fundamentals of WordPress makes more sense in the longer term, and will also mean that I am working with WordPress rather than fighting with it all the time.

Anything Else

Well, I have been drinking a fair bit of tea lately and brewing it Gong Fu style which has totally changed how I drink tea now. I decided to create a little application that would allow me to use a stopwatch and have a way of tracking the number of infusions I have had all on one page. The result was this This was created in an afternoon using just JavaScript and the Bulma CSS framework, it is simple and does exactly what I need it too.
