April Update

TM111

Well after six weeks of waiting I finally got my module results for TM111. I passed with a distinction and managed to get 94% on my final TMA giving me an overall average of 95%. To say I am pleased is an understatement, this has given my confidence a real boost and given me the push I need to get through my current module.

MU123

TMA02 was completed and submitted, I scored in the low 90’s for this one so again I was really pleased with the result. TMA03 is heavily focused on line graphs and linear equations, which means I am having to spend a lot of time focusing on the subject. I am just about to finish of ICMA 43 which will mean I can focus on TMA03 for the next couple of weeks.

Elevate Mentorship

This has been a really product month for me on this program, I finished my portfolio site and have also managed to do a couple of simple template sites. I finished the PHP & MySQL beginner course and the OOP PHP by the net ninja. I have now set my sights on WordPress theme development with the goal of being able to get a job in this at some point in the future. I am taking Zac Gordon’s Udemy course on theme and plugin development, courses might not be the best idea in the long run but to get the basics down, this will be more than enough. This course has already pushed me towards learning Zurb’s foundation framework and Sass, although I think that will be after I have got the basics on theme design down. Local by Flywheel has to be the best solution for developing WordPress sties on your PC, really simple to set up and run. I have also been looking into hosting my WordPress sites on AWS or Azure instead of convention shared hosting, I do need to do some more research on this before I make a decision.

Coffee

You might think this is a bit of an odd thing to cover, but every good developer has a least 1 mild coffee addiction. I have started to drink more freshly ground coffee as I don’t like the amount of waste our Tassimo machine produces. I have discovered the AeroPress coffee maker and it has changed how I drink coffee. Talking of coffee, I’ve found that Skull Crusher’s CBD coffee is the perfect mix of caffeine kick without the jittery side effects and the taste is OK. Pact coffee has to be some of the nicest stuff I have ever drunk and I have signed up for a plan to make sure I don’t run out any time soon. If you hadn’t already guessed these are affiliate links but I do think these coffees are worth while trying.

Well, that’s it for this month anyway, I need to get back to working on my WordPress portfolio site and possibly do some uni work.
